This was written by my dad, a few days after September 11, 2001. The message seems applicable today, too.. I hope you can appreciate it as much as I do!
We are in a war we cannot win
Nor afford to lose
Our new enemy is one
That we did not choose
He waits around each corner
In the shadows deep and dark
Never in full view
Like swings out in a park
He has come to stalk us down
He is waiting at the gate
Our enemy we cannot see
Our enemy is hate
There is only one way we can fight
This enemy so new
We must all come face to face
Him and me and you
With hands held high and heads bowed low
Search strength from up above
The only way to fight this war
Is seeking God's love
